The Sun makes a sound but we can’t hear it. In the form of pressure waves, the Sun does make a sound. The wavelength of the pressure waves from the Sun is measured in hundreds of miles, however, meaning they are far beyond the range of human hearing.
100 Mind-Blowing Beyond Facts
Laughing came before language. How do we know? Some researchers tickled baby apes, which, beyond being adorable, showed that they share the same structure as ours and likely arose in our common ancestors millions of years ago. Language came about much later.
You can see four states from the top of Chicago’s Willis Tower. From the top of the former Sears Tower on a clear day, you can see about 40 to 50 miles away—beyond Illinois and out to Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

One part of Istanbul is in Europe and the other is in Asia. Part of it neighbours Greece and Bulgaria (therefore sitting in Europe) and the other part neighbours Syria, Iran, and Iraq beyond Turkey’s borders (therefore classing as Asia). The Bosphorus Strait runs between them – a narrow body of water that connects the Black Sea to the Mediterranean Sea via the Sea of Marmara.
Tomato ketchup was used as medicine for 16 years. Whether you love it or hate it, this condiment once had a place in the world beyond hotdogs. However, you’d be surprised to know that ketchup only had tomatoes in it starting in 1834. Before, ketchup was made with a mix of fish and mushrooms. When Dr John Cooke Bennet added tomatoes to the mix, he claimed that the antioxidants gave it a medicinal property. He had a pill salesman turn his tomato ketchup into pills and claimed it could treat diarrhoea, indigestion, jaundice, and rheumatism.
Beethoven never studied multiplication or division. One of the greatest composers in history, Ludwig Van Beethoven demonstrated his excellence throughout his lifetime. However, he never learned math beyond addition and subtraction. Beethoven studied at Tirocinium where he learned some math, but never multiplication or division. At one point, when he had to multiply 62 by 50, he wrote 62 down a line 50 times and added it manually.
Bumblebees can fly at great heights. Bumblebees can fly beyond the height of Mt. Everest. Researchers were shocked to discover that two bees that they were tracking were able to fly up to 30,000 feet high.

Black holes give off light. Venture beyond the event horizon and you’ll not be able to escape the powerful gravity of a black hole. Black holes are objects so dense that not even light can escape their gravitational pull. Yet despite this, black holes can shine brightly, and this may be one of the most contradictory-sounding facts about space on our list. Supermassive black holes can illuminate the centre of galaxies and are known as active galactic nuclei. How can this be? As cosmic material falls into a black hole, it forms an accretion disc that swirls around it. This material gets very hot and glows: it can even power jets of material that shoot out of the black hole into space. This all occurs just outside the event horizon and is one of the ways astronomers can detect black holes even though they can observe them directly.
5 billion Suns could fit in UY Scuti, one of the biggest known stars. Compared to the rest of the worlds of our Solar System – even colossal Jupiter – our Sun is pretty big. But it’s nothing compared to the biggest stars we know of red hypergiant stars that would positively dwarf our Sun if ever there was a cosmic ‘who’s the biggest star?’ contest. UY Scuti is one such stellar giant. It’s often referred to as the biggest known star in the Universe (although this can’t definitively be proven). But what calculations have revealed is that if UY Scuti were to replace our Sun, its outer edge would sit beyond the orbit of Jupiter. 5 billion Suns, 7 trillion Jupiters or 7 quadrillion Earths would fit inside UY Scuti! What’s more, UY Scuti is 300,000 times brighter than the Sun but is so far away you wouldn’t know this when observing it in our night sky.
Linux on Every Major Space Station: Linux is used in every major Space Station including NASA, the International Space Station (ISS), and private space companies such as Space X. Its reliability and open-source adaptability makes it an ideal choice for critical systems, ensuring smooth operations and supporting astronauts in their endeavours beyond Earth’s boundaries.
Linux Market Share: Linux has gained ground as the third most popular desktop operating system, with a 2.92% market share as of October 2023, according to Statcounter. Beyond desktops, Linux’s reach extends further, serving as the backbone for a staggering 90% of the world’s cloud infrastructure. Its versatility, open-source nature, and robust performance have made it a prominent player both on personal computers and in the vast network of servers powering the digital services we rely on daily.
Last year, Chinese scientists created AlphaDog – a robot dog that, beyond serving as a pet, could also help with delivery, bussing in restaurants, and aiding the visually impaired. A fun fact about technology here is that the AlphaDog will use 5G and operate autonomously.
