LEGO is the world’s largest tyre manufacturer. Pretty ironic considering how small LEGO tyres are, but LEGO is the biggest tyre manufacturer in the world. Lego manufactures over 318 million toy tyres per year, with 870,000 tyres per day.
100 Mind-Blowing Considering Facts
Jupiter’s magnetic field is bigger than the Moon. The region of space in which a mass’s magnetic field dominates is known as its magnetosphere. These regions surround planets, pulsars and even our Galaxy. The planets in our Solar System have magnetospheres that interact with and are shaped by the charged particles in the wind streaming from our Sun. The largest magnetosphere in our Solar System surrounds Jupiter. Jupiter rotates very fast and has a very strong magnetic field, and its magnetosphere is filled with plasma from its volcanically active moon, Io. These features, coupled with the fact that the solar wind is slower and less dense at Jupiter than at Earth, lead to a very sizeable Jovian magnetosphere. It is easily big enough to contain a body the size of our Sun and, if visible, would be larger than the Moon in our night sky; quite an achievement considering that it is over 1,500 times farther away.
An estimated 1,000 axolotls remain in the wild. That’s a worryingly small number considering how many eggs are laid by each breeding pair.
The Internet has its very own patron saint. St. Isidore of Seville may not seem at first to be the best patron saint of the Internet, considering he lived back in the 7th Century. While he certainly lived well before the Internet was invented, he shared many values with it. He tried to record all the knowledge he could get his hands on during his life, which isn’t that far from what the Internet is – a great big collection of knowledge!
The longest train journey in the world is in Russia. This should come as no real surprise, considering the absolute enormity that is Russia. The 5,778 miles (9,300 km) long Trans-Siberian Railway runs from Moscow to Vladivostok in the country’s far east. If you combine the length of the Trans-Siberian with all the other railway lines in the country, it would be able to circumnavigate the world twice!
Which is the older email or www? Most people don’t realize email came long before the World Wide Web. Before the web came along, email worked much differently than today. Users needed to dial a rotary phone to connect to Micronet and access the email webpage. Academic researchers and government entities used email at the time. Consumer usage simply didn’t exist until the Internet came to fruition. Considering what email is today, its original form is archaic and almost confusing to see in action. For that reason, not a single person wants to return to the email systems of the past.
There is a McDonald’s in every continent except Antarctica. Overall, there are more than 36,000 McDonald’s restaurants spread out across the globe. While this number is incredibly high, it makes perfect sense considering that this favourite fast-food ranks as the second-largest fast-food restaurant chain in the world! The first McDonald’s to open outside of the USA commenced operations on June 3, 1967, in Richmond, Canada.
