Electric Vehicle (EV) Statistics: Sales Keep Climbing. 2021 Electric vehicle sales showed a 26% sales surge over 2020. If prognostications are accurate, global EV sales will exceed 6.4 million worldwide. In China, 12% of all sales are EVs. Europe and the UK are selling electric and plug-in vehicles at a rate that is eight times higher than in previous years, led by these brands: Tesla, Volkswagen, and General Motors. As the U.S. government addresses issues related to infrastructure, zero-emission laws and fuel economy, the U.S. goal of 50% of all car sales in the EV category by 2030 seems attainable.
