As of September 2016, the Giant Panda was downgraded from “endangered” to “vulnerable” on the Global List of Species at Risk of Extinction.

Most of the viruses embedded in our DNA are gone already. Most of these viruses have already gone extinct due to human evolution and changes in environments. Modern medicine also played a role in the extinction of these viruses. If scientists were to revive any of these viruses, it could cause a major outbreak that humans won’t quickly heal from.

Axolotl conservation efforts are in full swing. All isn’t lost for the cute-as-a-button axolotl. Over in Mexico, campaign groups are spearheading several initiatives to help safeguard this unique creature from extinction. That includes plans to raise the water level of Lake Xochimilco and rid its waters of invasive species.
