Elvis Presley’s manager sold hate merch for profit. One of the most iconic marketing fun facts: Elvis’ manager, Andreas Cornelis van Kuijk, sold “I Hate Elvis” badges to make money from people who weren’t buying his merchandise.

The manager of Elvis Presley was also selling hate merchandise for Elvis. For nearly two decades, Tom Parker was the manager of The King. It was sometime in the 1950s that Parker signed a merchandising deal to turn Elvis into a brand name which also included ‘I hate Elvis’ badges.

Friends is a well-loved show that airs on many channels and is still branded on merchandise today. The cast still receives a percent of everything the show makes resulting in each of the main six cast members getting a check for around $20 million each year.
